thank you time magazine! = )
We’re back at Musica on September 11th!!! Check it out!
Hello, hello. It’s been a while. I’ll try to update soon! Sooo many crazy changes happening…
Glad to see so many of you have been gobbling up the free EP! I’ve gotten some really great feedback from you, which is awesome considering this is a rerelease.
I thought I’d make this a little bit more interesting though. Starting today I will be having a contest on www.twitter.com/petenischt. I will be giving away two digital copies of my full length, Life is Strange, every Monday until August 16th. The album will then be available for full price on August 17th.
There’s only a couple things you have to do to enter:
1. Follow me on twitter @petenischt
2. Retweet: RT for chance to win Life is Strange before its release Aug 17! FREE MUSIC from @petenischt at www.noisetrade.com/petenischt! 2 winners/week
I will select winners randomly every Monday and DM you a link to your free download! If you do not win during any given week, you can re-enter the contest by retweeting the message! The more people that hear about the music right now, the better. I can’t do it without you guys, but it’s also not fair of me to ask you to tell all your friends without there being a little something extra in it for you, so happy tweeting!!
for anyone who’s ever toured through detroit or been to a show there… this was one of my most favorite people to get to know on the road… papa smurf.
be sure to watch part two.
Hello Everyone!
As many of you know, I’ve been writing, demoing and recording songs for a follow up to “Life is Strange” ever since I finished recording it in New Jersey in January of 2007. Those closest to me have received a steady stream of demos via email ever since then, but due to a number of unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances, I have never been able to put out an official release. On top of this, I let time get the best of me and never maintained any kind of digital distribution after I parted ways with my record label, Regular Music, at the end of 2007. To many of you, this has made “Life is Strange” as new of a record as any other because you simply haven’t been able to listen to it.
I am happy to report that several things have finally been put into motion to change all of this. At the beginning of this year, I reassembled a band, aptly named “The Motions,” and adopted a new system under which we would write, play and record together. I also turned down a full ride at a top-tier law school in Los Angeles to continue pursuing my education and music here in Akron (suck it Lebron). Shortly after we started playing, we pooled our resources together and began recording full band versions of the first batch of songs we arranged. I had originally planned on this being a second full length, but after talking it over with Rob, we now feel it would be much better to get the first batch of songs out to you as quickly as possible.
In anticipation of this release, I have decided that it is finally time to get some of the old music out to you guys. Starting today, I will be rereleasing my first acoustic EP, entitled “Sandbox,” for free at www.noisetrade.com/petenischt in its entirety. Thousands of copies of a 5-song version of this EP were downloaded in 2006 as a free EP under Regular Music, but the original version was released in January of 2006 and contained 8 songs. I’m bringing them back. In order to receive your free EP, Noisetrade will require you to provide me with a valid email address and a zip code. There is also an option to “pay what you want” or leave a “tip” for the record. Please DO NOT feel obligated to donate money for this release. I wrote some of these songs in high school and the rest before I turned 19. Some are dated (I’ll be 24 in October), but they are all a rare part of my catalogue, and I am happy to be able to provide them to you in this way, free of charge.
Several weeks after the release of this EP, “Life is Strange” will officially go live again on every major online digital music retailer. I anticipate the album to go live on August 17, exactly three years after it’s original release. The price for this 10-song full length will be no more than $9.99. For those who are new to this release, it’s creation was the single most important accomplishment of my life up to that point… and maybe even still today. There’s a lot of sweat, time and tears wrapped up in it. If you enjoy the Free EP and/or like what you hear of samples from the record online OR if you are one of the many who’ve received “Life is Strange” for free at a Motions show this year, this will be your chance to OWN the record, if you wish. I am also currently reviewing an offer I got from a music licensing firm in Seattle, which will be working to place the record in film and TV as soon as I hand them a signed contract.
These two releases will ensure that we have enough time to release the first Motions EP without the news about it going stale. They will also help generate the capital we need in order to get the project off the ground. As for the Motions EP, itself, we are currently putting the finishing touches on it. More on that to come very soon, but for now, enjoy the new (old) music!
I’d like to thank all of you for your continued support and friendship. Couldn’t do it without you.
Love,
Pete Nischt & the Motions
